<p>having come back from a camping trip in the Berkshires in Massachusetts, I am sore and weathered from the many hiking, climbing, and swimming journeys that my buddies and I took. These mountains have, without a doubt, some of the most beautiful attractions I have laid eyes on. It is no wonder everybody on the trip was always looking forward to explore our next adventure. From the summits of the mountains, to the wilderness trails, to the lakes and waterfalls, there is freedom and fun to be uncovered just around the corner.
The first place that we visited was an area named Tannery Falls, where there are hiking trails along a few scenic streams and waterfalls. When we reached the first and tallest waterfall, my friends and I stopped for a much deserved break by walking waist deep in the cold pool of water at the bottom of the falls. I don’t think five minutes passed before my friends and I were all making our way up the waterfall, taking breaks in the small pools on the way up to the pool at the top, called “The Oasis.” Once we reached the the top of the falls, we spent all day there eating, swimming, tossing pebbles into the water at the bottom and occasionally striking a pose for pictures snapped by hikers on the actual trail.
Our second destination was a lake that was close to our campsite in Savoy. It was certainly not the biggest lake that I have laid eyes on, but it was so peaceful and welcoming that I couldn’t help but swim more. In the middle of the lake, there is a rock which resembles a seat that sticks out of the water about a foot. As we all uncovered, seats four with ease. This rock is where we watched the sunset of our second day camping, and let me tell you, it was one to remember.
On the third day, our final adventure destination was a place named the Windsor Jambs. The Windsor Jambs can be defined as a long stretch of stream, lined with cliffs and huge stones that are perfect for climbing. We walked the hiking trail down to the bottom of the Jambs and got pumped up for our adventure back up through the boulders and waterfalls. On a few occasions I had to resort to my Nikon binoculars to see what things lay ahead, and confidently make a way to safely get around them. Along with being very fun, the Jambs are somewhat dangerous, but extremely stunning.
After our three day camping trip filled with fun days and wacky nights, I can absolutely state that I wish I could have stayed longer. I highly advise you to visit the Berkshires in Massuchusetts the first chance you have. Bring the family for a camping trip, or just make a couple days for you to just sit back and take pleasure in nature. Whatever journeys or relaxations you choose to participate in, I guarantee you will be stricken by the beauty and freedom of these mountains.
